Black and White and Yellow Quilted Tote Bag

I made this quilted tote bag in 2010 with the scraps of a quilt. I used extra wide fabrics to make the quilt.  I used the black and white fabrics below.

Joanne Nordeen Medical Update Aug 2, 2011

Mark and I went to the follow up exam with Mom and met with the Surgeon. They removed the stitches. Weight and motion restrictions lifted. Can resume normal activities as she continues to heal.

Also met with a Radiology/Oncologist.
The tumor was a rare type of this Meningioma Tumor. (Left Sphenoid Wing Meningioma).  Because of its rarity and uniqueness she will be involved in a cancer case study about the tumor and the treatment of the tumor.

It was determined that she will benefit from Radiation.
She is so fortunate that they can arrange the radiation treatments at Johnson Creek - UW Cancer Center, which is only 15 minutes from her home.  They will start later in August.  Radiation treatments will be 5 days a week and last about 6 weeks.

Again thank you for all of your prayers and concerns.

Velvet Crazee Patch Button Pillows

In 2003 and 2004 I taught sewing classes in my quilting studio.  One of the classes was Velvet Crazee Patch Pillow tops. These are the three I made for my Mom.  First I made the three pillow tops. Then she sewed all the vintage buttons onto the pillow tops.  Most of the buttons were from my grandma's sewing tin.  She also added some new buttons. Then I sewed them together and made them into pillows.  She has them displayed on her sofa.

Sometimes I would back the pillows with a solid piece of velvet.  Sometimes I would just embroidery stitch on the velvet to make it look pieced and other times I would do a whole crazee patch pillow top on both sides of the pillow.
NOTE:  If you follow my other blog --- I shared these photos for a Hodgepodge Patchwork Tuesday Post. Velvet Button Pillows

Mom and I decided making the crazee patches into pillows was a great way to display my grandma's old buttons.
I love ideas on displaying buttons, trinkets and jewelry.  I made a wall hanging for displaying treasures also.

How do you display your treasures?
